Small Item Declutter & Organization

This is a part of The Komono Declutter that I started a while ago. I’ve been putting off this area because it can be challenging and time consuming. It’s Tuesday, and I decided to declutter and organize my miscellaneous items I’ve collected in a few containers.

These containers store jewelry, sentimental items, stickers, papers, and more. First, I took everything out of its place and onto a table. I saw that there were similar items but not stored in the same place. I wiped out the containers then began decluttering. I held each item and let go of the things that didn’t spark joy. Once that was done I sorted items. I knew where I wanted things to go. I gave some smaller jewelry to my nieces who wear them more than I did.

Even though there wasn’t a lot of items, it did take me over an hour to get everything back into its place. Since it’s a new year, I thought this was a good time to complete these declutter & organization tasks.

My Blogger Toolkit

I created my blog a few months ago and wanted to share my tools. I think many people possess these tools, so if you want to start your own blog you’ll learn that it can be done with a few items.

My Tools
Pen
Notebook
Camera
Laptop
Word Processor

I start most posts by writing in my notebook, but if you find it easier to type then you won’t need a pen or paper. Since I’ve been writing I know that I can get a good first draft by handwriting it. For me, a pen and notebook are essential.

I was fortunate enough to be given a Sony A390. I try to get the best quality photos since I don’t have a photo editing app. However, there are many free ones you can find in your app store. Also, my phone can take good photos so I use that, too.

From my notebook, I type my blog post on Microsoft Word. Next, I edit and revise on the document then copy and paste to WordPress. I find this simple and easy.

For blogging, most tools are easily available or inexpensive.

Brainstorming with Webs

I’ve always liked writing down plans or even a simple grocery list. One thing I forgot about from elementary school was webs. My teacher had us brainstorm this way before writing. The first week of January I made a web of goals, experiences, and new ideas.

First of all, I liked the way it looked in my notebook. It looked like a small piece of art that broke up my writing. The best part however is that it fulfilled my need to write down my thoughts without sentences or a list. The ideas could be completely different from each other but still look organized.

I rediscovered a way to put thoughts and ideas on paper.

Finding my Personality Type

I recently took the Myers-Briggs Personality Test and discovered that I am an INTJ. For a long time now, I chose to believe that the test results wouldn’t reveal anything worth knowing, so I decided not to participate.

A major form of entertainment, for me, is watching YouTube. Some of the channels I watch talked about their type. This got me curious and finally gave into taking the test.

As an INTJ, I learned that my inner world is important to me. I spend my time thinking and planning. I may be different from other people and that is fine. I don’t have to feel out of place since there is a community of INTJ online. The information that’s offer made me realize or even explained why I am the way I am.

The results so far have been beneficial to me because I like knowing and learning more about myself. Another resource, I so happened to be reading currently, is Quiet by Susan Cain which has been insightful. Taking the test was worth it.

Winter Weather

This week, I thought a lot about how the snow will set me back in terms of limiting my time outside and keeping the house warm. It meant I had to run in the snow. My times would be off, and I probably won’t get my heart rate as high as usual. My family heats our home with a wood stove, so I’d have to make sure the fire doesn’t go out.

So much more to do…because it snowed.

Another thought entered my mind the day after it snowed again which was enjoy this winter weather. Feel the snow with your fingers. Listen to the crunch with each step. The landscape is beautifully bright. Yes, I’ll have to run in the snow but I choose to see it as an adventure. Since the fire inside will always be going, I can warm water on it and at any time I can make a cup of tea.

This weather won’t last forever.
