Wednesday Reset

Midweek, I like to get things on track. I usually pick Wednesday because Monday is busy, and Friday, I want to relax. That means folding my clothes especially the ones I mess up trying to get the ones I want. I choose the areas I neglected and places where I allowed it to be cluttered for too long. I put items back where they belong. An example are my sweaters and jackets. Instead of keeping them over the kitchen chairs, I hang them back in my closet.

This Wednesday, I looked through a storage box that I needed to organize for a few weeks. It’s been collecting electronics, bags, receipts, movie tickets, and dust. It was so nice to declutter the receipts and packaging from the electronics. Some items were placed back in their home like the packing bag went back with my travel belongings.

The storage box is now neatly organized, and I don’t have to think about it, for now.

My Daily Writing Goal in Habit Tracker

Back in May, I set the goal of writing every day and since 2019 is almost over I wanted to review my stats. I currently use a habit tracker to input my progress. It’s an app I found called Habits.

In the last 205 days, I missed twelve days of daily writing. I thought it would be more because when I travel I usually forget to write. In October, I missed four days which caused a dip in my habit strength graph. However, I think an overall 98% score is great. When I started I thought this was going to be very tough and I would have trouble being consistent. I was able to fix that issue by making myself accountable. I did that by setting a reminder with the app to notify me every morning to write.

In the past, I tried writing daily but couldn’t stay consistent. The best streak was between July 25th to September 1st which is 39 continuous days. I’m proud that I stuck to this goal and will continue it in 2020.

Creating Art

Being expressive helps me feel grounded. I feel like I accomplished something even if it involves squiggles on the corner of my pages. It allows me to focus on the swoops and curls. I get into a flow where the ink glides on the page. The art we create can be small. It can be for ourselves. The art I choose is writing, coloring, sketching, photography, and cleaning. These change all the time. I’m not the best at all or any, but I truly enjoy each one.

With intention, I choose to make time for myself and my art. Creating tiny pieces to appreciate the beauty around me is what I look forward to. I choose to create art.
